COVID-19

All corps officers & instructors, as well as cadet Chiefs and Petty Officers, have completed the DND COVID-19 Safety Training course.

A Corps Safety Plan has been developed to ensure that safety procedures are followed while cadets are undergoing training. This Safety Plan has been approved by the Officer in Charge of Lower Mainland Cadet Corps and by the Commanding Officer of Cadets in British Columbia.

If Parents or Cadets have any questions regarding the COVID safety policies, please contact the Commanding Officer.

As of May 2022, COVID safety requirements follow the provincial Preventative Health Measures (PHMs.) Summary:

  • Cadets are not required to wear a mask during training indoors or outdoors, but may do so at their own choice and comfort level.  Cadets will be supported in their choice of whether to wear a mask or not.
  • Certain training opportunities may require wearing of masks, such as being in a DND vehicle, vessel or aircraft.  Cadets will be informed of these requirements before any such opportunities, so that they have a mask to wear.  It is recommended that Cadets always have a mask handy in a pocket when doing training away from the Local Headquarters (LHQ.)
  • Cadets selected as Staff Cadets for summer training, CAP or other Regionally or Nationally Directed Activities are required to wear a mask in shared common / public areas, except when eating or drinking.
  • Officers and Civilian Instructors are required to wear a mask in shared common / public areas, except when eating or drinking.
  • Civilian Volunteers are not required to wear a mask.
  • Vaccinations are not required for most training.  Vaccinations are required for any overnight training.  Exemptions may be granted for approved medical reasons, consult with the Commanding Officer for more information.

Requirements may change based on changes in the PHMs by provincial / regional health authorities or by the Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers (CJCR) Formation Command team.   Cadets will be advised of any changes to COVID safety policies.
