Here is a list of awards that are given out each year along with the criteria.
Best 1st Year Cadet |
Awarded to the cadet who joined this training year and who has shown a consistently high standard in dress, deportment, attendance, achievement in class, and participation in weekend & extra-curricular activities. |
Best 2nd Year Cadet |
Awarded to the cadet who joined this training year and who has shown a consistently high standard in dress, deportment, attendance, achievement in class, and participation in weekend & extra-curricular activities. |
Best 3rd Year Cadet |
Awarded to the cadet who joined this training year and who has shown a consistently high standard in dress, deportment, attendance, achievement in class, development in leadership skills and participation in weekend & extra-curricular activities. |
Best 4th Year Cadet |
Awarded to the cadet who joined this training year and who has shown a consistently high standard in dress, deportment, attendance, achievement in class, development in leadership skills and participation in weekend & extra-curricular activities. |
Best Dressed Cadet |
Awarded to the cadet who has demonstrated throughout the training year the highest overall standard of dress and deportment. |
Best Esprit De Corps |
Awarded to the cadet who has demonstrated outstanding personal effort, devotion to the corps and a high level of enthusiasm. |
Top Air Rifle Shot |
Awarded to the cadet who has the best overall grouping target when shooting the Daisy 853C Air Rifles. |
Top Band Cadet |
The Top Band Cadet award is awarded to the band member who regularly attends practices and band events, makes an effort to perform to the best of their ability as an individual and as part of an ensemble, and displays a high standard of overall drill, dress, and deportment. |
Top Guardsman |
The Top Guardsman award is awarded to the guard member who regularly attends practices and events, makes an effort to perform to the best of their ability as an individual and as part of a team, and displays a high standard of overall drill, dress, and deportment. |
Best All Around Cadet |
Awarded to the cadet who consistently maintains a high level of drill, dress and deportment, has maintained a minimum of 75% attendance on mandatory training, has participated in extra-curricular events and shows a high standard in leadership, enthusiasm and dependability. |
Royal Canadian Legion Medal of Excellence |
The Royal Canadian Legion Medal of Excellence is awarded annually to the cadet having shown the highest degree of participation and leadership in the area of citizenship and in meeting & enhancing the aims and objectives of the cadet organization. |
Lord Strathcona Medal |
The origin of the Strathcona Foundation dates back to 1909. Lord Strathcona, then High Commissioner for Canada in London, England wished to improve the physical and intellectual capabilities of youths by encouraging habits of self-discipline, good citizenship and patriotism. To this end, he created the foundation bearing his name. |
